I came back from my honeymoon, had a great time, and then I started having engine problems. The car made a slight ticking sound and the progressed to a knocking, I tried to pull over quick but I was in Austin, TX in 5 o'clock traffic. I pulled over, the radiator was boiling out the overflow reservoir, so I let it cool off, I put more oil in it -- the engine was chugging quarts of oil in minutes (added up 2 quarts and in about 10 minutes, had to add another 2, burned in five minutes -- no leaks or anything -- oil went in, and burned up quick), . . .didn't work for long. . . long story short, my dad and I think it may be a rod that went out.

Ironically, I was about to buy a used 99 v6 and do a split port swap after we got back from our honeymoon. Now I have no choice. Should I just swap in a 99 motor? I don't think the bottom half of my 98 is good anymore. The rest of the car is fine as far as I know. I thought about a v8 engine swap, but I don't have time to rewire the car and get engine mounts, etc, etc. Is a 99 v6 considered an easy swap?:wtf:

I'll get some pictures once I get the engine apart. Oh, and I did take good care of the car, I did routine maintenance (especially before our 1,000 mile road trip), and the car had 223,000 miles on it. I was hoping to squeeze 300,000 but that's out of the question now.

Seems MSG and Sodium Nitrate are huge culprits as far as processed meat goes. Interestingly enough, the USDA tried to ban sodium nitrate as far back as the 70s, but of course the meat lobby had their way with that measure, just like the corn lobby did with the GMO bill.
Cheap beers are becoming less cheap, and for that you can thank hipsters.

A recent study by Restaurant Sciences found that your everyday, low-cost beers like Budweiser, Miller Light and Coors Light are getting pricier, a trend the firm attributes to the rise in popularity of Pabst Blue Ribbon -- a favorite among your bearded, flannel shirt-wearing friends.

Basically, as Chuck Ellis, the head of Restaurant Sciences, put it, PBR has become "quite fashionable." This has allowed bars and restaurants to get away with charging more for the beer's low-price peers.

"I believe the single biggest driver in sub-premium beer price increases is indeed specifically PBR," Ellis told the New York Daily News.

PBR did not respond to a phone call from The Huffington Post Friday afternoon.

So how much more are you really paying? The study found that the prices of popular "sub-premium" beers have increased up to 6.8 percent in the nation's eating and drinking establishments over the past seven months (see chart below).

And it's not only beer that's getting pricier. A study out earlier this month, also by Restaurant Sciences, found that the cost of spirits and cocktails has also gotten significantly more expensive.

If this beer news makes you really angry at hipsters, you're probably not alone. A recent poll from Public Policy Polling found that only 16 percent of Americans have a favorable view of hipsters. Even more, 27 percent of Americans say hipsters should be taxed for being “so annoying.”
I found a guy on craigslist with a jlt intake. Everything I find says to install the intake with a tune or it's useless. I understand that.

But does installing the intake without the tune hurt anything? Run lean? Knock? Engine codes?

Also, what the hell happened to forums putting up stickies with FAQs?

This thing is so much more complicated than my old SS. :o
Edit: First mod is pretty much locked in to being GT500 mufflers and possibly an h-pipe.

Flame on yeah I know. Im looking at a subwoofer for my car, and no I dont want dem killer bass. Just want something to give dubstep and electro some real power or thump. Stock Mach 460+Kenwood headunit atm.

Im looking at multiple options, one to go under the seat, or an option to put it in the trunk. MY main concern for putting one in the trunk is its a convertible, and im not sure how that will affect the bass in general. I do not have much experience with subs, thats why im here asking. And all my friends around here are like, oh bro get 2 12s in this massive fucking box; itll sound totally awesome. Fuck that. I dont need rattling the fuck out of my car bass.

Looking to at its highest setting getting some serious slam, but odds are ill have it set to a mild setting for rounding out the sound range.

My current options im looking atm are:

Under the seat
Sound Ordnance™ B-8PT 120-watt compact powered subwoofer at Crutchfield.com

In the trunk options, maybe maybe the back seat or in the spot where the convertible top rests when down.
JL Audio CS110-WXv2 Sealed BassWedge™ enclosure with one 10" WXv2 subwoofer at Crutchfield.com

Rockford Fosgate Prime R1L-1X10 Sealed enclosure with one 10" Prime subwoofer at Crutchfield.com

and amp for the two above
Amazon.com: Customer Reviews: Boss Audio R1100M Mosfet Monoblock Power Amplifier with Remote Subwoofer Level Control

Thoughts opinions? I dont want some shitty subs that will just blow out or rip around the flex zones in a year.

NEW YORK — Herbal supplements aimed at improving men's sexual abilities often contain the active ingredients in erectile dysfunction pills such as Viagra, according to a new study.

Additionally, researchers found that some of these over-the-counter herbal remedies contained more of the ingredient than is allowed in prescription-only pharmaceuticals.

"It's pretty scary stuff," said Neil Campbell, the lead author of the study and a researcher at Pfizer, which sells Viagra. "These products are not herbal at all, they're adulterated."

Related: Over-the-counter medications and herbal remedies

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration, which is in charge of regulating herbal supplements, posted 11 warnings to consumers in 2013 alerting them of unlabeled pharmaceuticals being found in these products.

Campbell and his colleagues analyzed 91 samples from 58 products.

They sent undercover consumers into convenience stores and gas stations in the Atlanta and Baltimore areas, and bought products such as Rize 2 The Occasion, Stiff 4 Hours, and Man King.

Although 57 of the products claimed to be "all natural," 81 percent of them contained tadalafil or sildenafil (marketed as Cialis and Viagra, respectively) or similar ingredients that are not approved by the FDA.

"There's so little effort to do something the right way to produce a legitimate product," Campbell said. "This is an all-time low."

None of 10 supplement companies contacted by Reuters responded to a request for comment, nor did the FDA.

Campbell said given the potential side effects and health risks associated with prescription erectile dysfunction drugs, men are "risking their lives" taking herbal sex-enhancement drugs.

"Almost one patient a day says they've tried Mojo or one of these over-the-counter products," said Dr. Gregory Lowe, an assistant professor of urology at Ohio State University who was not part of this study. "One of the big concerns is that we don't know what the patient's getting."

Seven samples that Campbell's group analyzed contained only unknown substances. It's unclear where the ingredients are coming from.
